My soul burns within you Sweet smells linger in your hair Grey suns hide inside you I don’t dare follow you there In the night I call you Candles are living light Come to me won’t you Secrets are safe in your smile Girl, I’d like to paint your picture It won’t keep ’til next season Girl, these poppies are contagious I think I’ll call you Death the Bride Of course we’ll dress you all in black A girlish hat for you Smile that smile for me and wave As you pass from this side Girl, I’d like to paint your picture (In this light) It won’t keep ’til next season (I can see it in your eyes - Death comes with the sunrise) Girl, these poppies are contagious (And to think) That I would marry Death the Bride I know you’d make a pretty picture —– Performers: Randal Prater - Voices, Guitars, Ebow, Tape Loops Tim Stach - Bass, Keys, Guitars Mike Troupe - Drums

Vervaine 03:42
Drink this elixir It tastes of vervaine Lie back and close your eyes My kiss will seal your fate My mind spins and cries your name Can’t you see Just one magick night with you Is what I need Ghostly whispers bring me down On my knees Will you marry me On one of the Saints Days Your eyes swirl and fade in me Please don’t cry We will swim through oceans made Of sweet vervaine Sweet vervaine Sweet vervaine — Performers: Randal Prater - Voices, Guitars Tim Stach - Bass, Guitars Mike Troupe - Drums

It’s a nuclear summer It’s a nuclear summer Smiley face turned around Take your dreams Watch them burn down It’s the spell that I’m under It’s the spell that I’m under Happy day in my mind Can I stay? She breathes in slow Another day to tow The Devil takes his toll She swallows idle tears Another yesterday Becomes a runaway And now today is long Tomorrow never comes The darkness that I see Brings on a comfortable madness No adorable sanity Oh, fancy free The gun was meant for me To feel delightful sadness In a trip of eternity The end of me Her fire flickers now And coldness fills her fear The dreaded aftermath Will barely make a splash It’s so very cold It’s so very cold The tunnel’s not so bright They said there would be light Oh, what have I done? Oh, what have I done? She sees that this is wrong But, now it won’t be long There’s nothing left to say She does it anyway The darkness that I see Brings an unbearable lightness To my spiritual hideaway Oh, blessed be The fear will set you free You see I’m raping this fantasy Of horrible ecstasy Deliver me The deed is done What has she done? The lamb lies sleeping In silence The darkness that I see Will be the end of me — Performers: Randal Prater - Voices, Guitars, Tape Loops Tim Stach - Bass, Slide Guitar Mike Troupe - Drums Matt Frickelton - Tape Loops

Floating away On such a lazy day Will you join me A cooler stream of heaven waits Life in the clouds Is half as high as you would like to be Follow me I will show you what it’s like to fly And then we’ll get high It’s all right If the sleep takes you away Dive right in - it’s easy Swim until you drown with me A saved life is a half life A cooler stream of heaven There’s a place I know Where everything just flows Won’t you take my hand as we Watch the poppies grow Dive right in - it’s easy Swim until you drown with me Half a trip is what I’m after A cooler stream of heaven — Performers: Randal Prater - Voices, Guitars Simon Hinkler - Lead Guitar Tim Stach - Bass, Keys Mike Troupe - Drums

In Surrey 02:40
Hello to all you lonely souls Please listen to me You’d best not follow slow Or you might miss me I’m sold - the river fills my low I sing to the lonely But don’t get used to me My heart’s in Surrey Come on - follow through the snow The light’s not friendly I feel you lose control On my flight of fancy Goodbye to all the deathly snows Just keep away from me If you’ve come to collect my soul I’m very sorry My heart’s in Surrey My heart’s in Surrey — Performers: Randal Prater - Voices, Guitars Tim Stach - Bass, Guitars, Keys Mike Troupe - Drums

Glassworks 06:09
I know this tale Of torment Repression, tragedy And love Translucent glass I wonder If it represents The lives Of Oscar And Lucinda Oscar Lucinda He was frail and true She had eyes so fair A gaze beyond reflection Behold this pitching pair Oscar Lucinda Oscar Lucinda Prince Rupert’s drop Was shattered long ago Scatter all the devils In the details Death on Good Friday Water was the fear Unrequited was their love Lucinda bathed in tears But, that was long ago Now, who can say How Oscar Feels beyond The grave — Performers: Randal Prater - Voices, Guitars, Tape Loops Erin Claussen - Backing Voice Tim Stach - Bass, Keys Mike Troupe - Drums, Percussion

about

This was the final album by Creeping Myrtle. Sadly, it never got a proper release or farewell tour. But, it is available for digital download. I am quite proud of the songwriting and think it makes a nice final chapter.
